{"id":1345,"date":"2023-03-28T23:26:30","date_gmt":"2023-03-28T23:26:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.marijkegreenway.com\/wptester\/?p=1345"},"modified":"2025-10-12T15:47:25","modified_gmt":"2025-10-12T05:47:25","slug":"biography","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.marijkegreenway.com\/wptester\/?p=1345","title":{"rendered":"BIOGRAPHY"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"527\" height=\"640\" src=\"http:\/\/www.marijkegreenway.com\/wptester\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/IMG_4165.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1441\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.marijkegreenway.com\/wptester\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/IMG_4165.jpeg 527w, https:\/\/www.marijkegreenway.com\/wptester\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/IMG_4165-247x300.jpeg 247w, https:\/\/www.marijkegreenway.com\/wptester\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/IMG_4165-300x364.jpeg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 527px) 100vw, 527px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>I am an artist with three nationalities that have made up my life experiences &#8211; born in Holland, then emigrating with my parents to South Africa and eventually choosing to live in Australia with my husband and three children during l988.<br><br>My early studies took place in South Africa, but it was in Australia with its very active art world that I became most prolific in my output and variety&nbsp; of subject matter, and equally at home with oils, watercolours and acrylics.<br><br>Acknowledged as a popular watercolour and mixed media teacher,&nbsp; I have tutored regular classes for 25 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I have accumulated an impressive list of awards and commendations for my work and have been widely exhibited, both in group exhibitions and solo shows.&nbsp; During 2006 I exhibited internationally with a solo exhibition on the Greek island of Leros.&nbsp; I have been published with major contributions to art magazines and I was a member of several art societies, including the Royal Art Society&nbsp; and&nbsp; the Australian Society of Marine Artists, Castle Hill Art Society and Central Coast Art Society.<br><br>I live at Pearl Beach on the Central Coast amidst stunning scenery &#8211; my main inspiration.&nbsp; My studio opens on Sundays from 11 am to 5 pm or by appointment. Was awarded 2nd Prize for Figurative. Also entered the <strong>WYNNE<\/strong> prize April, then Easter <strong>ARTS HUB <\/strong>in the Arboretum in Pearl Beach. Finally embarked on the Coral Cruise from Darwin to Broome that had been cancelled during Covid and have been painting many new seascapes from photos of that amazing journey, with a view to an exhibition somewhere. Organised a solo exhibition <strong>&#8220;SURFACE SEDUCTION&#8221;<\/strong> at <strong>The Shop Gallery <\/strong>during September 2023, showing encaustic work, trees and a selection of Boats painted at The Heritage Fleet earlier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>2024 <\/strong> Lucky to be accepted for an exhibition in the new <strong>GARDEN GALLERY<\/strong> in Sydney&#8217;s Botanic Garden during Sept\/Oct 2024 and named it <strong>COLOURS OF AUSTRALIA.  <\/strong>I showed all the new paintings of the cruise as well as working on new ones of the trips with John.  It was very well received and enjoyable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>2025.<\/strong> I was offered a space for February and I accepted and gathered all the tree paintings together and named the exhibition <strong>FOR LOVE OF TREES.  <\/strong>It was a much quieter month but still sold well.  Also sold at the Royal Easter and at the Art Trails in Pearl Beach.  Working towards next year at the Garden Gallery.
